After getting a taster at Farnborough( Hereford FC (From the cider country) Away day – Farnborough!) I thought it would be rude not to make the trip to Creasey Park, Dunstable on the weekend. From Ciiiiiidder Country!
I’ve still gotta a minimum quota of a couple of home and probably a few more away games to fulfil by the end of the season. Hitchin and Basingstoke should be absolute certs on the away day trail.

This wasn’t as easy a trip as it looked from East London, around two hours either way. A few stiffners for the journey settled any worries of boredom. Happy days!
We found a local pub on arrival (The Bird in Hand) which has been bought out by former residents of Hereford according to the Talking Bull podcast. So there were obviously a few fans in there and from here we made our way down to the ground.
Now, once again the hosts were more than hospitable, as they were at Farnborough. The main difference this time was as a fanbase we behaved ourselves. This was obviously great to see. Once again they catered for smokers and it was easy to have a drink in the stands, aided by a club bar and vendors around the pitch

The travelling support was in full voice throughout and this is what we want to see. The attendance of 509 would have included around 400 travelling fans. The full repertoire of chants were back on Saturday. Including the ones that standardly drive my missus insane when I get back from match day!
As far as the match goes we won 4-0 with goals from Purdie, Smith, Green and Richards. It is great to see Purds and Greeno get on the scoresheet. Two of ‘my boys’ from a time gone by.

Our victory also meant we went top of the league after Banbury held King’s Lynn to a 1-1 draw. King’s Lynn actually equalised in stoppage time. We now have a one-point lead over them with three games in hand. All we can do is concentrate on ourselves and keep going. It sounds cliche but we must remember not to worry about other teams here. If we take care of business then that will be that.
There were, of course, plenty of ‘top of the league’ chants near full-time and that’s always a top feeling. I was pretty vocal but a mixture of cider and double vodkas may have started to take their toll! Another great day out though.
I would also like to thank Dunstable Town F.C for going above and beyond to accommodate us and wish them the very best for the remainder of the season and indeed the future. You can’t help but want to see clubs like this do well.

For us, we go again. St Neots at home on Tuesday followed by a first versus third clash at Edgar Street on Saturday where we host Weymouth. I will be making the trip back to cider country for that!
