This is what it’s all about, what a huge couple of minutes that was. Slough equalising late on against King’s Lynn and Mike McGrath grabbing a late winner for the Bulls with a near-post header. McGrath has missed five months of the season with an ankle injury, so this timely winner will feel all the sweeter to him. There is no doubt how vital this goal was in the context of our season. This is probably demonstrated best by the picture I found myself in and added at the bottom of the blog. One win from our remaining four games will see us as champions for a third consecutive season.
The journey took me about an hour and a half as I opted to go from Romford to Liverpool St and onto Bishop’s Stortford, but a poor uber service in Stortford meant i very nearly missed kick-off. Almost mini gubbage.

I immediately bumped into an old pal who I had not seen for years, he actually now resides in Bishop’s Stortford so thought it would be rude not to pop down. Good choice lad!
Inside the ground, there was a home bar and an away bar for half-time and full-time bevvies. Once again I thought the hosts were top draw, we were made to feel very welcome on arrival. Let’s be honest, if we, as fans can have a booze-up and a crafty snout then I think pretty much everyone is happy with that. The crowds were segregated but we were given 2/3’s of the stadium so could basically switch over at half-time.
The hosts went down to ten men in the first half but they defended very well in my opinion. Symo also missed a penalty in the first half. There were numerous other chances and it looked for the world we were going to have to settle for a point. Their keeper had a decent game. We stuck at the task again though and as the case has been before we got our rewards by plugging away to the final whistle.

We have always been a danger going forward with Mills, Keyon, Smith, Myrie-Williams and Symo but defensively we looked assured again, even without Greener who started his suspension. Jordan Liburd deserves a special mention, he has really stepped it up. The back four were all decent though (Pring, Liburd, Oates and O’Shea).
We are almost there now and the players deserve a lot of credit for how they reacted to back to back defeats against King’s Lynn and Basingstoke. The fans have also played their part and we were in full voice once again on the weekend, especially in the bar after. We can smell it now!
On to Biggleswade midweek and a chance to finish it. Kettering then come to us on the weekend and I’m looking forward to both. The atmosphere could be something at Edgar Street on Saturday in what looks likely to be a sell-out crowd.
On our waaayyyyyyy, on our way…
PS – As promised the pic I told you about earlier on and you can quite clearly see here, there were some pretty fired up celebrations after the stoppage-time winner. So much so that someone has messed my man bun up in the melee to the extent that I ended up looking like Tin-Tin as one my pals pointed out!
